Strengths and weaknesses of all social networks – a discussion

When you think of a social network, what things spring to mind that you do not like about it?
Which particular function of a network is faulty, ill conceived?

On the other side of the equation, what do you particularly like?
Which part of a network is exactly as you like it?

This blog is open to comments from you, I’d love to hear your opinions.

Include any you like, here’s your starter for 15 to get your thoughts flowing

Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, plaxo, naymz, xing, ning, ushi, myspace, bebo, Hi5, orkut, Ecademy, connects and brijj.

I’ll make a start.
I’ll make a general praise for all the networks with automated email notices /notifications.
So long as you can switch them on and off in your settings these networks are better propogated and retain membership.

  1. When you think of a social network, what things spring to mind that you do not like about it?

First thing that i think of is how long it has taken me to learn, to some extent, what networks work for different markets. Every network wants participation, and with so many, it can become impossible to be ‘home’ at so many social networks.

On the other side of the equation, what do you particularly like? Which part of a network is exactly as you like it?

Personally, I spend more time on FacBook. it just so happens that i make more sales through FaceBook in general conversations than I do on networks that I post mostly sales. I found your site through LinkedIn just so you know.
